When I initially decided to begin collecting vinyl, I scoured the interwebs high and low… actually I went to Amazon and looked at a ton and read reviews… that aside if I found one I liked, I looked it up and read external reviews. I was drawn to the Audio-Technica AT-LP60XBT due to both it’s entry-level pricing, and the array of positive reviews it had… so, was it worthy of all the praise?
Firstly, you’re going to want to look this up on Youtube, you have to put the belt and platter on it yourself, but don’t be worried it isn’t difficult in the slightest. Once you’re set-up, you’ll want to connect it to speakers of some sort, I utilize a large Bluetooth speaker jacked into the back of it because I’m old, and I like cords!
Next, the Audio-Technica AT-LP60XBT boasts some pretty impressive specs honestly;
- 2 speed 33-1/3 and 45 RPM
- Bluetooth
- Fully automatic
- HI-FI
- Anti-Resonance
- A dust cover
- An aluminum platter
- Belt driven
- Easy as pie to operate (though pie might be trickier)
- Built-In Switchable Phono Preamp
- Integral Dual Moving Magnet phono cartridge with a replaceable diamond stylus (Legendary Audio-Technica cartridges)
So, is this thing worth the hype? Does it actually live up to its name and deliver the goods? Will Batman ever truly stop the Joker?
Oh yeah baby, this thing delivers on the promises and does so in a simple and stylish package that at its price point, cannot be beaten. No matter what vinyl you throw at this thing, it’ll play it masterfully, even your parent’s old beaten-to-hell records!
My one and only wish is that the tone arm was bent a bit, but this comes down to personal preference honestly. So I am proudly giving this marvel of modern magnificence;
Grab yourself one of these and make your hipster relatives cry with envy as you blast some Skinny Puppy or Dimmu Borgir over it!
